We didn't start the fire!

We had quite the weekend... the drama began when Ryan's dad called us and said there were reports that the family cabin just south of Cedar City was gone! We had heard there was a fire started by lightning a few weeks ago, but the BLM said it was a controlled fire and it wouldn't reach the small town of New Harmony (close to the cabin). However, it turns out that apparently someone in the BLM doesn't really get what "controlled" means, because Saturday the fire moved and the cabin and little town were evacuated! We had heard numerous reports that people witnessed the cabin burning and that there were 3 houses completely burned down-- But we didn't want to believe it until we saw it, so we headed down there and arrived at about 3:00 in the morning. The fire had completely scorched everything on the road to the cabin...it was like driving onto a movie set for a thriller, I half expected Freddie or Jason to jump out at us. When we got up to the turn just before the cabin, we were sure it wasn't there. But the cabin made it! As Ryan would say "We have the Rocky Balboa of cabins!" Everything was toasted 50 feet around the cabin, but thanks to the firefighters and their magical flame-retardent foam, the cabin lives!! Whew, that was a close call-- And the Easter Egg roll plaque was saved, so there will be no dispute over who is the reigning champion :)

24th at the Bees!

As my very first official blog post, I thought I would put something fun! For Stacy's birthday (and the 24th of July celebration) we went to the Bee's game and then played Mario's Smooth Moves at the Harbertson's after. None of the boys wanted to follow the bee around to get a picture, so we made Steve follow us around as we followed the bee around...it was hilarious! Happy Birthday Stacy!
