sparkly shoes for good luck

I will pretty much do anything to see my cougars win...even wear sparkly shoes! (ok, so I would definitely wear sparkly shoes anyway, but I justified them to Ryan by saying they were good luck)
It was the perfect day for football-- an early game time, warm, and scoring front row tickets that put us right in the action.

Before the game, I was trying to get Camden all excited, so I told him that if he was really good, he could eat a cougar tail-- he got a horrified look on his face and said "I don't want to eat a cougar's tail, mommy! Those are supposed to be on their bums!"
As soon as he saw what a cougar tail really is (a long maple bar) he immediately changed his mind... "mommy, I NEED that cougar tail!"

We sure do love football season! Go Cougars

BYU @ St. Mary's

Once we finally made it to California, we headed to the BYU game at St. Mary's--
You mean to tell me you went on vacation with Ryan's family and there was a sporting event involved!? Gasp! --and not just one... :)
The seating was all general admission (except season ticket holders), and we weren't there hours early to get a seat.
So, Annie and I just sat down in two empty seats right behing St. Mary's bench, thinking someone would kick us out. However, when the two people came to claim our seats, the usher took one look at my pregnant belly, and instead of making us move, just added two more seats to the row! woo hoo! Thank you, baby bump--
The gym was smaller than my high school gym, but the atmosphere was awesome! It was a really fun game (could have been better with a win...but that's ok).
The gym was so small, that we were able to stand right outside the BYU locker room and watch them all run on to the court at the beginning. Something I haven't done since my cheering days :)

byu @ oregon state

and a fall weekend getaway just wouldn't be complete without a byu game!
so, saturday afternoon we headed to Corvallis to cheer on our cougars.
one thing i wish byu did a better job of is tailgating. it was really fun to see all the pre-game festivities going on...but, i guess most people came with their beers. i guess we could come with our caffeinated beverages?

there is nothing better than a beautiful fall saturday, watching college football
Camden also made friends at the game...
i'm not sure if it's acceptable to be fraternizing with the enemy...
but this cute little girl was loving her some Camden time.
every time he let go of her hand, she would follow him around until she could grab his hand again! what a ladies man--
and when the game got a little too long for this kid, we brough out his old friends Buzz and Woody... what did people do to keep their kids entertained before technology?
a W for the cougars always helps the weekend get that much better!

Cougar Football

one of the main reasons fall is my favorite season is due to my love for BYU football.
we were so excited for the home games to begin! and for Camden to be able to really enjoy the fight song-- everytime Ryan or I wear a BYU shirt, he points at it and says "rawrr rawrr!"
we are raising a loyal cougar here, folks :)

the first BYU football game for the new little guy in my tummy!

it was an awful display of football all around. both teams looked terrible, we just looked worse.
i always HATE losing to the U. blah.
and to make matters worse, i didn't even get a cougar tail :(
oh, well. there are plenty more football games, and many more cougar tails to be had!
oh, how i love fall.

Viva Las Vegas

We were so lucky to be in Vegas for the MWC Basketball Tournament!
In addition to watching our COUGARS, we enjoyed our fair share of buffet dining...
and got completely exhausted shopping with Mama.

Nothing like college basketball.

Even better when it's BYU college basketball!

We've got Jimmer Fever over here!
It's seasons like this that really make me wish I was still cheering...
being in the stands sure is fun, but not as good as being in the action!
What a great season :)

Spring Break! (Day 1)

Headed to Arizona again for Spring Break!

Sunshine... here we come--
Day 1: A lot of driving time.
We left Cedar City, and drove...

and drove... Camden was a trooper! We figured out that putting a DVD player in the car is pure genius. I know, I was once one of those moms too (the ones that vow never to let their kid watch movies in the car)...but now, I am a believer! And never going back--
And yes, we did rent a 15 passenger van for this trip-- it was a blast! We had a lot of people coming and going throughout the week, so to save money and stay more organized, we opted for the van. Totally worth it.

One of our stops along the way was lunch at the Grand Canyon. It was ridiculously cold and windy...so we didn't stay too long.
But did what Judds do best...Eat.
This picture perfectly illustrates Camden's newfound obsession with horses. He says "nay. nay. nay." every chance he gets. So when we saw this picture in the restaurant, he went nuts!
This part of the drive made me really excited to get to Phoenix...and sun.
Dang that snow.

Camden and I enjoyed many a silly game in the car. It's amazing how easily a 1 year old is entertained...and more amazing is how easily he entertained me. :)
We couldn't leave behind the lovely scenery without a hike, so we braved the wind and cold, and checked out the red rock.I made Ryan carry a blanket that was wrapped around Camden in the elephant seat so his little legs wouldn't get too cold.

After the hike, we drove on. Stopping only one more time (to play sardines in the courtyard of an outdoor shopping center) before we arrived in Phoenix!

Superbowl Party

Every year Ryan's dad throws a superbowl party.
There is usually an over abundance of food, creative games, and good people...
The boys enjoyed them some football.
The girls enjoyed the commercials and 1/2 time with Usher.
The kids...everything, but mostly Papa Judd's pinball machine.
Everyone ate their weight in food.
I couldn't resist the yummy homemade snickers bars. queso dip. and shrimp sauce.
A party wouldn't be a party without some cupcakes!
So Brecca and I made some football themed sweets.

Yellow cake+Green frosting for the Packers.

Chocolate cake+Yellow frosting for the Steelers.

Little brother John (who is on a mission in Brazil),

LOVES the Packers. So, in honor of him, I was cheering them on...

and they WON! Somewhere, across the globe, that mormon missionary is smiling from ear to ear.

Gym Rat

Dear Basketball Gym,
I love to come see you and watch my daddy coach.
During halftime I get to go on the court and play ball with Papa Judd!
I am kind of a big deal.
Turns out all the little ladies love me.
And the high school girls too...
Especially my aunts :)

I love to run all over after the game is over and all the fans are gone
I am a pretty quick climber
Thank you for your fun stairs and obstables that keep me entertained.
Win or lose, my daddy always has a smile on his face and the tickle monster on his fingers!

Mama says she loves getting my energy out.

I wonder why that is?

Thank you Gym,

Hopefully we will share many a memory over the years

Sincerely, Camden
